🐂 One Fat, Nothing Else

Beef tallow, and the liquid I make it with. No coconut oil, no castor oil, no fragrance, no dye, no colorant. Tallow on its own makes a hard, mild, creamy bar that cleans without stripping your skin, and this one has nothing in the way of it.

🔨 Simpler On The Label, Harder In The Pot

I did not expect to end up here. I spent years building a balanced bar, adding a little of this and a little of that until it was right. Then my customers told me — in what they bought, and in what they wrote to me — that what they wanted was something simpler and more honest. So I went the other way. In a blend the oils cover for one another, and if the balance is a touch off, something else takes up the slack. With one oil there is no slack. The lye has to be matched exactly to my own tallow, not to beef tallow in general, and working that out is why this bar took as long as it did to arrive.

🌱 Made With Homegrown Ingredients

Instead of plain distilled water, I use my own herbal hydrosol — slowly distilled from rosemary, lavender, lemongrass, peppermint, rose petals and lemon balm grown in my garden — plus fresh-harvested aloe vera, drained and blended into gel by hand. Because the hydrosol carries the herbs' natural oils, you may notice a very light, natural scent. There are no added fragrance oils and no dyes. A small amount of citric acid helps prevent soap scum in hard water and keeps the bar from going rancid through its long cure.

🧼 Crafted The Traditional Way

Each batch is mixed slowly, cold-process, in small batches. The bars keep curing right up until they ship, so they arrive hard and long-lasting, and I don't wrap a bar until your order is placed. Every bar is hand-sliced and beveled to sit comfortably in your hand.
