This is nasty stuff. I put it on one finger to try it and barely touched a wet surface in my mouth when flossing. It?s still there after brushing my teeth again and chewing mint gum. My kids have certainly stopped chewing nails and I can see why. This works but it is certainly a nasty way to go about it.

It had a slightly bitter taste and went on shiny, so that?s why I gave it three stars. It did absolutely nothing to help my mother with dementia stop biting and chewing her nails constantly.

Both my daughter and I have tried this product. It works. We have not bitten our nails. It does have a bitter taste which is what deters the biting. It says to apply twice daily, I did not do that. It does wear off so you will need to paint the nails frequently. The little file that came with it was a nice addition. The only issue is if you eat finger foods, you tend to get that taste while eating. Who knows, maybe that will get me away from the snacks. I would buy this product again.

This stuff is nasty making it very effective. I've chewed my nails for years and years, but when I have this stuff on, I am quickly reminded to stopping chewing. The taste stays on your nails even after washing your hands a few times. Taste lingers too. Be careful not to touch food while wearing it though. Your food will taste yucky!

I have had this product for a week and a half already and have not bitten my nails since its first day on my fingers. Reviews about its taste being strong are false (from my experience). It is certainly bitter and you will make a face, it also does linger and stick to your lips for a few minutes. However, this should not be regarded as a bad thing. After nearly 18 years of biting my nails, the damage will certainly show as I age even if I stop now. You do not deserve to go easy on yourself to break this habit. Suffer now (and honestly, it's not that bad) and kick this habit before it hurts you permanently.Pros:Since I started applying it, I am 100x more conscious about my fingers in my mouth area. When I eat foods that require eating with my hands, I'm more cautious about finger placement. This connects to later when I'm bored so that I don't bite my fingers for fear of the taste.The taste. Quite bitter, and makes you remove your finger and lick your lips for a few minutes to get the taste off - tells you to not do it again.Cons:The taste lingers and if you apply it wrong, you might not even have to contact your fingers to your mouth to taste it, but this is a user error. Not really a con, but you need to be aware and use your brain to help you not bite as well - it isn't automatic, you need to train yourself to not bite.TLDR --- It is an effective >$10 solution that can get you through your bad habit granted you also put in some work to make sure you kick the habit.

I bought this for my 2 yr old son who has sucked his thumb from day one. I was starting to get worried about how his thumb sucking might affect his mouth/teeth development. I tried hot sauce (this doesn't work because it doesn't stay on his thumb long enough so you have to make sure to apply and reapply thru out the day). I tried a sock over his hand (this was good for night time but not during the day because he wasn't able to grab anything meticulously while playing which was very frustrating for him). I tried the nail polish with garlic but that didn't work either. Not sure if I may have messed up the recipe but it seemed like after it dried then all of the taste was gone and it was just like normal nail polish. So I tried this stuff. He only sucked his thumb once and has yet to do it anymore. Yes, it is a horrible, potent, bitter taste. I tried it so I knew what he was getting into. It is HORRIBLE. But it sure does the trick. When he stuck his thumb in his mouth he just made an awful face. He didn't cry or ask for anything to drink so it didn't hurt him. I could see this maybe being a problem if you give them a messy finger food where they lick their thumbs and might not make it pleasurable to eat. But luckily he sucked his left thumb and he is right handed so it was no worries. I kept this on his thumb for one week. I believe he was truly broke from it in 2 days, but I wanted to make sure that if he tried to start again, then he would know that it still didn't taste good. I am a highly satisfied customer and would extremely recommend this for any thumb sucker or nail biter. It will do the trick for sure!

I have chewed my nails since childhood, but as I approach my thirties, I began to notice bottom front teeth damage from my awful habit. In an attempt to stop denigrating my teeth, I bought this. It definitely works. It went on clear over my painted nails and dried quickly! But do not make the mistake I did and apply this stuff on the underside of your nails.The taste is extremely bitter and will instantly remind you to STOP putting your fingers in your mouth. HOWEVER, this also happens if you eat a chip, a piece of fruit, or any snack you've handled. With one application of the polish, this goes on for DAYS. I'm on day 4 of my first application of the polish and the taste and strength are still there, only slightly faded, and I wash my hands many times a day. You definitely don't need to apply this multiple times a day as the packaging states and as I previously mentioned, don't apply it on the underside of your nails, it is not necessary! The bitter taste will get under there regardless.My major problem is that the awful taste gets on my lips, and it's hard to get off. I find myself scrubbing my lips with a tissue or my shirt to get the taste off which has dried out my lips and made them a little rough.On the bright side, this stuff is long-lasting and supposedly, non-toxic. I have not chewed my nails, only attempted to do so, so that's a win! I will keep using it! Consider using some mini tongs or chopsticks when eating finger food, it will save you a lot of trouble. :)
